Advocacy Committee
The Advocacy Committee helps ensure every student and family feels connected, included, and able to fully participate in the Briarlake community. From language access and family outreach to accessibility and inclusion, this role focuses on helping remove barriers and strengthen connections across the school.
ESL Advocate
- Maintains a Spanish/Mandarin/other WhatsApp parent group
- Shares major school and PTA information with parent groups
- Translates PTA flyers if possible
Diversity & Inclusion Advocate
- Makes recommendations to the Board that enhance student inclusion and participation at school events
Accessibility Advocate
- Seeks input from parents and teachers regarding advocacy needs
- Advocates for D/HH, mobility accessibility, ESL, and other accommodations
Shared Responsibilities
- Attends Board Meetings as needed to share ideas, needs, and updates
- Assists with recruitment for future Advocacy Committee Chairs
- Reports to VPs of Communication & Family Engagement
