Welcome, Briarlake Beavers!

Your National PTA School of Excellence.

Our goal is to encourage your student's love of reading while raising important funds for our school.  We are counting on your support to make our Read-a-thon a success.  This year, we hope the Read-a-thon will raise $12,000.  The deadline for donations is Friday, Sept 21

Keep up the awesome work. We're getting there!

We would love to have everyone participate.  No amount is too small.  If you have misplaced your individual student access code or need help with set up, please email amanda_e_holt@hotmail.com.

Heroes Around Me

Do your children enjoy art, music, and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? We'd love for them to have fun unleashing their inner artist!

Reflections is a PTA-sponsored art competition for children.

Check out this video to see what it's all about.

All entries due October 5th. Please contact our Briarlake Reflections Chair, Taryn Rioseco, with any questions: tarynrioseco@gmail.com.

DeKalb County School District parents, guardians, teachers invited to vote for 2018-2019 Principal Advisory Councils

The voting window for DeKalb County School District’s (DCSD) Principal Advisory Councils is now open and will remain open until Sept. 25.

Principal Advisory Councils are coalitions of parents, guardians, and teachers that serve their school communities at 114 DCSD schools. Councils act as a link between the school and the community, encouraging engagement with stakeholders, increasing transparency, monitoring progress, and participating in the selection of a school’s principal.

The voting window for 2018-2019 elections is Sept. 18-25. Electronic voting will be held from 8:00 am on Tuesday, Sept. 18th through 5:00 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 25th.

All eligible voters—parents and guardians verified through Infinite Campus as well as full-time non-supervisory teachers—will vote via an online election system. Voters will use the following steps to cast their ballots over the internet from any computer, smartphone, or other web-enabled devices:

  1. An email containing your electronic ballot will be sent to the email address on file in Infinite Campus (parents/guardians) or Outlook (teachers).
  2. Click on the link in the email to access your electronic ballot.
  3. Cast your vote. A receipt will be sent to your email address confirming that your vote was recorded.

All votes will be anonymous. Parents without access to computers and the internet can cast their votes at their neighborhood school(s).

DCSD will announce winners via our Principal Advisory Council website within 5 days of the close of the election window. Winners will be posted at www.dekalbschoolsga.org/school-councils.

For more information, contact Kina Champion, School Governance Liaison, at kina_champion@dekalbschoolsga.org or (678) 676-0718. Further information can also be found at the DCSD website, at www.dekalbschoolsga.org.
